We're Shocked and Appalled
>

That Fox and NBC revealed - during the Super Bowl-that Hulu is nothing more than an alien experiment targeting brains everywhere, designed to pacify the masses and turn all brains into cisterns of 1-minute oatmeal.

Before this happens, humanity should get one final shot at rehab, as we mentioned before.

The revelation certainly generated many eyeballs (that's the number of viewers who watch, times 2).

In the battle for eyeballs (the optical nerve is the highest bandwidth pathway into the brain) on the Internet, Frank Addante, crossing the Rubicon, was hailed as overall imperator of online media amongst private companies by Tony Perkins in NY.

Disclosure: We were quite early investors in L90, where Frank was CTO and a co-founder. It eventually reached a market capitalization of nearly $1 billion. In fact, I did the technology due diligence on adMonitor, comparing it to all extant systems. It eventually was sold to DoubleClick. The adMonitor name has now been picked up by another company.

Hulu from NBC-Universal and Fox
>

As mentioned earlier, Hulu is a service being offered by NBC-Universal and Fox and creates a high-quality, content focused service with a high-touch, empathetic user experience.

Two thumbs up on the user interface which is simple, but elegant.

Using it to watch the David Lynch film Mulholland Drive which rates only about an "8" on the weird scale, if "10" might be considered highly disturbing, hulu offered the ability to reduce side panel illumination, for example, if it is dark, and a very easy pause and play function. The sound also is high quality mp3 (not sure of the bit rate), a nice upgrade compared with some UGC sites, which feature mono mp3 encoding on their Flash players.

You can also add hulu content on your site, which distinguishes its approach from some of the content creators. Ads are placed in a thin banner on the upper right border above the player and sequenced in the content itself periodically, or, you can elect to watch a trailer of an upcoming film distributed by the partners in hulu and enjoy a completely ad-free experience.

Nice.

HAL got unplugged
>

Somebody emailed us and noted that HAL was unplugged. That is, the voice of HAL in our HAL memory test.

"Let me put it this way, Dr. Amer, the 9000 series is the...."

Rest assured that it has been corrected. Try it.

Speaking of Arthur C. Clarke, the retrospective brain gym with some 'flashes' of his best works will be launched shortly.

See if it phosphorizes your brain.

I had a chance to try out the HULU service from Fox and NBC-Universal. More on that later...
